A couple of Saturdays ago, I went to a spring themed card class at my downline Kylie's house. We made four cards, and ate two lots of cake. Perfect! I'll be sharing the four cards over the next few posts so keep an eye out if you like the card I'm sharing today.
The main product used in this card is the Swallowtail stamp. This is the same size as the large background stamps, and the detail on it is amazing. We stamped the image onto Daffodil Delight card stock using Versamark ink, and then put on Pool Party embossing powder which was then heated using the Heat Tool. This gives a lovely raised effect. We then painted on Shimmer Paint to give the butterfly a shiny sparkle. This was then mounted onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then onto Pool Party card stock.
Here's a close up shot of the Swallowtail stamped image. Isn't the detail great?
Here's a close up of the sentiment, which is from Perfectly Penned. This was also stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Pool Party embossing powder.

Roses are red
Morning!
This is a post I've been meaning to share for a couple of weeks. My blogging hasn't been too regular recently, and I'm trying to put that right! I've got a few things lined up to share, so I just need some time to sit down and get on with writing them.
This post is to share the flowers I made a few weeks ago, and seeing as it was Valentines Day, I decided to make some roses. I'd done a bit of Pinterest searching and had found lots of flower tutorials so thought I'd have a go instead of just pining. Anyone else guilty of spending too much time browsing for projects to make one day and the list just gets bigger and bigger? This is a link to the pin showing how these roses were made.
The card stock colours used for these flowers was Soft Suede, Primrose Petals, Riding Hood Red and Pretty in Pink. They were all daubed around the edges with Cherry Cobbler ink with the Sponge Daubers. Three flowers were punched using the Blossom Punch, and were assembled using a glue gun.
The first flower, the centre one has a long glass headed pin through the centre of it, which is what the stems were attached to. The second and third layers were then joined with the glue gun, and held in place for a few seconds until the glue dried, which keeps hold of their flower shape.
This is a close up of one of the roses. It looks like there's a bit of glitter around the edges of the petals, but it must be traces of the glue from the gun. It looks quite pretty! They are spritzed with the Champagne Shimmer Paint so that might be what is showing in the photo.
This picture shows the underneath of the rose, which was made using the retired punch 5 Petal Flower. I used three different colours of green for these to add a bit of variety - Wild Wasabi, Garden Green and Old Olive.
The pins were glued to thin green wire stems that I picked up in a local craft shop, and then I wound florist tape around the stem.
This is a basket with glass jars that I picked up from a local shop to display the roses in. It was less than a fiver, and a few days after I'd bought it, I saw one in Laura Ashley for about £12!
The basket came with a little wooden heart, attached with some ribbon. I replaced the ribbon it came with with some Cherry Cobbler Seam binding ribbon.
I'll be making these soon again I hope, they'd be great for a special birthday, or for table decorations for a wedding or a party. Let me know what you think!

Buns and Roses Workshop - Snow Flurry card
Here's the second card from the Buns and Roses workshop. This was the quickest project out of the four tables, which was good, as it gave the ladies a chance to catch up! This was the only card that used the Big Shot, I think they all liked having a go at embossing and die cutting. The Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder was used for the panel in the centre. The card used was Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Gumball Green. The other exciting part of this card was that it was spritzed with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, which gave a lovely shimmery finish.
Here's a close up of the die cut snowflake, and you can see the Glimmer Brad in the middle. These are nice sparkly brads, and come in gold, silver, champagne, black and gray.
Here's a close up of the greeting, from the Curly Cute stamp set, in Whisper White ink. The edges of the card were daubed with the Daubers and the ink, to give a snowy frosty effect.

Shoe Box Swap - Distressed Creative Elements card
This is quite a different style of a card from what I usually make, and I'm pleased that this was brought to the Shoe Box Swap class by Caroline Lovett. The technique is known as distressing, and around the edges of the layers of the card were roughed using the edge of the Paper Snips scissors. The edges of the Very Vanilla layer were also curled for extra detail. I'll be using this style more often.
The background was made using the flower stamp from Creative Elements, in Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango. The Tangerine Tango was stamped into the ink pad, and then once on scrap paper, to give a less strong colour. The flourish stamp from the set was stamped in Soft Suede. A spritz spray was used with the Champagne Shimmer Paint to give the golden effect. The Music Notes wheel stamp was rolled across in Basic Black ink. The flower stamp was then stamped onto Tangerine Tango card stock and cut out, as was the sentiment from a new stamp set called Itty Bitty Banners.
I've got another project in the pipeline from this card. I said above that I stamped off some of the Tangerine Tango ink to make it more subtle for the background. My sister saw the sheet I'd stamped these on, and has asked me to make something for her bedroom for her walls. I've got my thinking cap on for this, and hopefully I'll design and share the project with you soon.

Next card class -Tuesday 25th September
This month we will be making another Wow card to impress your friends and family. As the nights are getting closer, and the temperature is dropping rapidly, we'll be making a Christmas card for your special friends and family.
Using the Apothocary Art stamp set and the Framelit dies I will show you how to make a diorama card. You'll be making two cards.
All equipment will be provided, and no experience is necessary. If you have your own craft kit, including scissors and glue, please feel free to bring them along.
The cost of this class will be £12, and as an extra special treat, you'll receive a pot of Stampin' Up! Shimmer Paint to take home with you (worth £4.95) so you'll be able to add a touch of glamour and sparkle to all your projects this Christmas.
