Swaps for team training

I've mentioned the team training day I attended on Saturday in a few previous posts. The first part of the day while everyone is arriving and finding a seat and getting a cuppa, is doing swaps. Everyone has to bring a card front or a project using current products. It can be a bit mad, trying to remember who has swapped with who, and I always manage to leave with a few extra that I didn't give away.

I used the set Watercolor Winter, which I had won in a raffle at the Christmas Stamp-a-stack. I used a Crumb Cake card blank, and stamped on the bottom right corner with Cherry Cobbler ink using the Curly Cute stamp set. A strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock was punched using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border. The holly outline was stamped in Always Artichoke onto Very Vanilla around the edges, and then using the markers, Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green, the image was coloured in and stamped on top of the outline. I did try to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the images, but this took too long, so I had to just use a steady hand to line it up. I like how it doesn't matter if its not exactly in line, and I like the scribbled effect the leaves give.

Everyone at the training day seemed to like them, and I've started to make a few more to add to my cards for sale box.

Stamp-a-stack Christmas 5 - Owl Occasions

Morning,

Hope you're all well, I'm doing good, got a few days off work and I celebrated my birthday yesterday. I got some lovely gifts and cards, but I worry that my friends think they have to apologise for not making me a handmade card! Please don't feel obliged, I like any card, whether it be handmade or not, it's the thought that counts.

I've not blogged for a while, and I've just realised I've not finished sharing all the Stamp-a-stack Christmas cards yet. So here's the fifth card. We used Cherry Cobbler card stock for the card itself, with a Crumb Cake layer that had been embossed with the new Woodgrain embossing folder. The Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies were used to cut out the Gumball Green background and the Whisper White card, where the Owl Occasions stamp set was used to stamp the owl stood on the branch. I love this set, it's perfect for any occasion and can be used all year round. For a bit of dimension, the hat was stamped on a separate piece of card, and cut out. Finally, Crumb Cake Taffeta ribbon was tied in a bow around the card.

I was made a birthday card from this stamp set by my downline and friend Kylie. When she's blogged the card, and doesn't mind me sharing it, I'll post a picture of it on here to show you another way the stamp set can be used.

Cupcakes card

Here's another card from my crafty weekend at Kylie's. It's been CASEd from Julie Kettlewell, I saw this card at the last Stamp-a-stack class I attended and thought it was amazing.

The colour combination is Pink Pirouette and Pool Party, with a touch of Crumb Cake and Rose Red. To make the awning, I used the Word Window Punch. The stamp set is the Create A Cupcake set, and the Cupcake builder punch was used to cut out the pieces. I used the Square Lattice embossing folder to add some detail to the bottom of the card, and added a Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon bow and a sentiment punched with the Large Oval Punch and the Scallop Oval Punch.

It was a really fun card to make, and I love the colours.  I said it before, don't wait to get this set if you're lusting after it, it's not around for much longer.

Papers / Card stock - Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Whisper White
Stamp Set - Create a Cupcake
Embellishments - Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon

Bird House

Here's another one of the projects that I made during my crafty weekend with Kylie a few weeks ago. I made a bird house using the mini milk carton die. I used Very Vanilla card stock, stamped with Crumb Cake ink with the Woodgrain background stamp. I used Soft Suede for the roof, and the Scallop Edge Border Punch on the edges. The hole was cut with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch, and a piece of acetate was placed behind the hole. The carton was filled with mini eggs. The Bird punch was used to cut the bird, in Rose Red and Pink Pirouette card stock, with Certainly Celery for the branch.

Paper / Card Stock - Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Certainly Celery
Stamp Set - Woodgrain background stamp
Embellishments - Rhinestone Jewels
Tools - Big Shot, Mini Milk Carton die, Bird Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch

Good Chemistry

This is a card that my sister asked me to make for her friend, they are both chemistry PhD students, so she asked for something related to chemistry.  I had recently found a template on Pinterest that I thought would be perfect.  I used the Sale-a-bration papers Everyday Enchantment for the liquid in the flask, and used the sponge daubers with crumb cake ink around the edge of the flask and the card.  The Curly Cute Stamp Set was used for the Happy Birthday sentiment.  I hope they were both pleased with the card.

I added numbers to the neck of the flask, using Pool Party cardstock.

For the inside of the card, I decorated Very Vanilla cardstock with stamps from Party This Way in Crumb cake ink.

On the back of the card, I added a stamp from the Creatively Yours set.

Card / Paper - Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Whisper White textured card stock, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment DSP (Sale-a-bration)
Stamp Sets - Party This Way, Curly Cute
Embellishments -
Tools - Big Shot, number dies (non-SU)
Inks / Markers - Crumb Cake

Don't forget Sale-a-bration is only available until the end of March, so don't delay in placing your orders with me to get hold of your free stamp sets or papers for every £45 you spend.

Fancy Folds Card 3 - Easel Owl Card

Here's the third in my fancy folds cards - an easel card.  It uses the colour combo of Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  I used the Woodgrain background stamp with Crumb Cake Ink to create a wood effect on the Very Vanilla cardstock on the front of the card, as well as on the Crumb Cake base. An owl was punched using the Owl Builder punch, and I added some Rhinestone Pearls to look like a necklace.  I used the Word Window Punch and the Modern Label Punch with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, and added a couple of the Stampin' Dimensionals to make a raised section where the top of the card rests to make it stand up.

This picture shows the card laid flat for placing in an envelope.

Card / Papers - Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum, Chocolate Chip, Subtles Paper Stack
Stamp Sets - Woodgrain background stamp, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Embellishments - Rhinestone Pearls
Tools - Owl Builder punch, Corner Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

Hello Baby!

Inspired by a card that I made at one of the Stamp-a-stack sessions (which can be found on an earlier post here), I recently needed to make a lot of baby cards in bulk.  There are babies appearing everywhere at the moment, and I can barely keep up with the rate that I need to make and send cards! So I decided I needed a design that I could make quickly, and I thought of the bunting card.  I made 6 cards of each colour, so I'm fully prepared for any more babies that are on their way!

I used Crumb Cake cardstock, with Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze / Pretty in Pink ink and papers from the Subtles Paper Stack.  The 3/4" punch fits nicely around the Just Perfect Alphabet stamps.  The "baby" sentiment is from the Pennant Parade stamp set.  Inside, I stamped the words "One little baby...many happy hearts!" from the Curvy Verses set, which was one of the first Stampin' Up! sets I purchased.  The Square Lattice embossing folder was used with the Big Shot to emboss a section of the card, it just adds an extra bit of detail that makes it look that bit more special.

The sentiment on the inside of the card - from Curvy Verses.

Half of the cards lined up, ready to be added to my box of cards.

I hope that everyone that received one of these cards recently liked them.

Creative Elements card

Here's the fifth card from the Stamp-a-stack class. We used the Creative Elements stamp set for this card, with a lovely colour combination of Crumb Cake, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. We used the En Français to do the background and then stamped the flower in Perfect Plum. The sentiment is from For My Family. There was a bit of cutting out to do around the butterfly, which had Rhinestone Jewels added to give an extra bit of bling. The Very Vanilla card stock was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

Paper / Card - Perfect Plum, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets - Creative Elements, For My Family, En Français
Embellishments - Rhinestone Jewels
Tools - Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder
Ink / Markers - Crumb Cake, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant

Bunting card

Here's the fourth card from the Stamp-a-stack session. I know I say on most of these cards that I enjoyed making it, but I did enjoy making this one too.
Strips of the Paper Stack and First Edition Speciality designer paper had been cut already, so we just had to cut them into the flag shapes. The letters are from the Just Perfect Alphabet stamp set, another set I own, so I'll be replicating this card very soon. We used the 3/4" circle punch to cut around the letters. The Crumb Cake card was partially embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder through the Big Shot, I like this technique, it makes the card a bit more interesting than if it was left plain.  The sentiment is from one of the Hostess sets - Happiest Birthday Wishes. To finish off the card, bows were made with the Linen Thread.

Paper / Card - Paper Stack 2011-2013 In Colours, First Edition DSP, Very Vanilla
Stamp Sets - Happiest Birthday Wishes, Just Perfect Alphabet
Embellishments - Linen Thread
Tools - Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot, 3/4" Circle Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig
Inks / Markers - Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo

Aviary card

Last night I attended another one of Julie Kettlewell's stamp-a-stack card classes, we made twelve cards in three hours, two each of six designs. I'll be posting these over the next week or so.
The first I'd like to share uses the Aviary stamp set, one that I own, and can't wait to try this design again. The colour combo on this card was Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade with Crumb Cake. The Scallop Edge Border Punch was used, and the large Scallop Punch was used for around the owl and cage. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs, which is a nice set, it comes with sentiments for the outside and inside of your cards. To finish off the card, Old Olive Taffeta ribbon was used to make a bow for the top of the cage, and for the top left corner with a Rich Razzleberry button.
