October card class

A few weeks ago, I held my monthly card class at Dock Street Market in Leeds. There's been a few changes there recently, and an additional side room has been created where a small bakery used to be. I held my class in the side room, and it was much better, we had much more space, it was quieter and the light was brighter. I had six ladies come to join me crafting, and on arrival they were given a pack of the card stock they needed to make eight cards (Cherry Cobbler and Lucky Limeade), and a pack of the Festival of Prints papers. I had made a few samples of the cards they were going to make, but I'd left it up to them to design their own. I'd brought along all the festive stamp sets I owned, so they could mix and match. The stamp sets used were Snowflake Soiree, Watercolor Winter, Scentsational Season, Delightful Decorations, and sentiments from For My Family, Petite Pairs, Teeny Tiny Sentiments and Owl Occasions.

Here's a picture of me in action! It's an bit fuzzy, it must be all the crafting that was going on.  Do you like my new apron, it was the first class I'd done since I bought it.

Here's the cards that I'd made as samples.

Floral District patchwork card

This should only be half a blog post really! This was one of the cards that Kylie had in mind to make for the inspiration station, and allocated to me to make. I got half of it done, and she finished it off. I'm sure she won't mind me sharing it too.

I used the square punch to cut out a piece from every design of the Floral District papers. I tried to arrange them so the same colours or patterns were not next to each other. These were stuck onto Whisper White card stock, in a grid, and then carefully lined up on the Big Shot using the Top Note die. I also ran a piece of Baja Breeze through the Swiss Dots embossing folder, which Kylie then later edged with a stitched effect in White pen. She tied a piece of Lucky Limeade ruffled ribbon around the Top Note shape, and tied a bow. Rich Razzleberry card stock was punched with the Curly Label punch, and the sentiment is from For My Family, which was punched out with the Large Scallop punch.

Stamp-a-stack Christmas 1 - Scentsational Season

This is the first card I made at the Stamp-a-stack class. I really liked this stamp set when I saw it in the Seasonal Catalogue, and it's one of the sets that comes in the new bundles. This stamp set is called Scentsational Season, and has matching Framelits Dies called Holiday Collection. You can buy the two items separately or in a bundle, for just £31.95 in wood and £28.95 in clear, saving you 15%. The Wood stamp set on its own is £16.95 and the clear is £13.95, with the dies costing £20.95.

The background layer in Very Vanilla was embossed with the new embossing folder called Lacy Brocade, and the papers are from the Festival Of Prints DSP Stack.

Craft Decathlon - Diorama card

Last month I attended a fun class run by my Stampin' Up! upline Julie Kettlewell. Even though I'm a demonstrator and run my own classes, it's still good fun to go to other classes, for ideas and to meet other crafty people. The decathlon was a full day of 10 different projects (some of which I've not finished yet-oops)

The first I'm sharing is a diorama card, and it's so effective and a little different to a normal card. The Simply Scored board was used to score the folds in the Island Indigo card stock, and the Labels Collection framelit dies were used to create a window and the panel for the back of the card. The stamp set used in this card was Bordering On Romance, with sentiments from For My Family and Petite Pairs. The In Colour inks were used with the blender pen to colour the flowers and leaves. Finally, a couple of flowers were punched from the Itty Bitty Punch, and a couple of sprinkles of Dazzling Diamonds to give the card a bit of sparkle.

Stamp-a-stack 4 - The Open Sea

Morning,
I'm trying to keep up by good blogging behaviour, so here's another post to share with you.  This is the fourth card from the Stamp-a-stack class, and I love this one.  Julie cased it from one of her downline, and I'm glad she shared it with us.  I'd just bought this stamp set, so it's great getting ideas for future cards I'll design myself.

The stamp set used for this card is called The Open Sea, and many of us demonstrators were really excited about this.  It's a great set to use for masculine cards, or where something different is required.  It can be difficult sometimes to come up with designs for men's cards.  The colours used for this card are Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Basic Grey.  The images were stamped at random to create a background on the Very Vanilla card stock, and the edges were sponged with Marina Mist.  The ship was stamped and then the Framelits Labels Collection dies were used to cut out the image.  This was mounted onto a strip of Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.  The sentiments were from the For My Family stamp set, and was punched out using the decorative label punch.

Fancy Folds Card 2

This is another one of my fancy folds cards, also called a tri-fold card. It was made with Soft Suede card stock, and the Beau Chateau Papers. The Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder was used to Emboss the Very Vanilla and Pink Pirouette panels. The Four Frames stamp set was used with the Modern Label Punch, with the sentiment from For My Family.   Unfortunately, now I've uploaded these photos onto here, the colours look a bit washed out, it must have been bad light when I took them.  The card is much brighter!

Creative Elements card

Here's the fifth card from the Stamp-a-stack class. We used the Creative Elements stamp set for this card, with a lovely colour combination of Crumb Cake, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. We used the En Français to do the background and then stamped the flower in Perfect Plum. The sentiment is from For My Family. There was a bit of cutting out to do around the butterfly, which had Rhinestone Jewels added to give an extra bit of bling. The Very Vanilla card stock was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

All Day Training

A couple of weeks ago, I attended an all day Stampin' Up! training session with Julie Kettlewell and 33 other members of her team.  It was my second one, and I had a great day. We made five cards with the Create a Cupcake stamps and punch, I ran out of time on the day, and haven't finished them yet, oops! We also did some workshop training, and learnt lots of good tips. I'm looking forward to putting them into practise.  There were some fantastic creations there by Sally Jo & Julie, on the Inspiration Stations.

Everyone that attended had to make and bring swaps, the idea of this was to share ideas, and everyone gets samples of products they might not have purchased yet.  We didn't do this at my first training, so was really excited to see what everyone made. I now have even more products on my wish list!  These are the lovely swaps I received.

This is what I made for my swaps, using the Aviary Stamp Set, and a colour combination of Melon Mambo and Old Olive, inspired by the Colour Coach.  The Top Note Die was used to cut Whisper White card stock.  Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, the owls were stamped, and then the cages were stamped and then heat embossed with the Stampin' Emboss Powder.  It's been ages since I did any heat embossing, I'll have to experiment with it a bit more often.  The For My Family Stamp Set was used for the greeting, and then to finish it off, an Old Olive taffeta ribbon was tied around the card.  Miraculously I had exactly enough for the 35 cards I made, with none spare!

I hope everyone liked them!

Stamp a Stack - New Catalogue

I'm not keeping up with these blogs posts very well at the moment am I?! After a busy month or two with the Light Night Craft Garden, and the two weddings, I've given myself a well deserved rest.

As a good way of getting my crafting mojo back, on Monday I attended Julie Kettlewell's Stamp a Stack card making class.  We made 12 cards, 6 designs, in three hours.

Here are the cards we made - aren't they nice!

The first card is made using the Polar Party stamp set, with Lucky Limeade and Real Red cardstock.  The borders were made with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, and finished with a bow made from the 3/8" (1cm) Ruffled Ribbon in Lucky Limeade.
