Wow wedding card

Morning,

This is a blog post that I nearly forgot to write! I thought I'd written it then realised I'd just shared the pictures on my Facebook business page (click here to "Like" if you don't follow me already!).

I made this fancy card a few weeks ago, for a colleague of mine, Richard, who had got married abroad to his partner Maz, and had a big party back here for their family, friends and colleagues.  I knew the theme was bright and colourful, so I decided to use the Patio Party papers to make the card.  I hadn't done any crafting for a while, so decided to make a fancy card that would have a "wow" factor!  Richard came to find me at work a few days ago to ask where I got the card from, and I said that I had made it myself.  He said that it had pride of place in the centre of their cards (maybe I'll ask him to take a photo for me so I can add it to this post) and I was really chuffed.  I love making cards and gifts for people, and am so pleased when they appreciate them too.

The picture below shows the card folded up, with the band around the middle tied with the Stitched Satin Ribbon.

The card is made from a 12" x 12" sheet of card stock.  Using the Simply Scored Board, a series of vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines are scored, and then the card is folded up.  The Patio Party papers were cut into triangles and arranged so that they looked nice when the card was flat as well as folded up.

Here you can see the card folded slightly.  Papers have been placed on the inside and the outside of the card.

Here's a photo showing the inside of the card.  The bunting has been punched out with the Petite Pennants Builder Punch, and the pinwheel has been made with the Big Shot and the Pinwheel die.  The sentiments have been stamped in Baja Breeze and Primrose Petals, and are from the Sweet Essentials stamp set.

Here's a close up of the pinwheel.  A Mini Brad has been placed though the middle, and attached to the card with Dimensionals.

A strip of the 12" white card stock was cut with a strip of the Patio Party papers, and is known as a "belly band".  The ribbon was attached underneath and when tied, holds the card flat.  A ruffled flower was punched out using the Blossom Punch, the card was wetted and scrunched.  Once it dried, the flowers were unfolded and an Antique Brad was placed through the middle.

You can see the detail on the Stitched Satin Ribbon here.

I've made a few more of these cards recently, they're only half finished though! I've been trying to use up my papers and especially the retired papers from previous catalogues.  I'll be sharing them soon once I finish them!

Pin Wheel Card

This is a birthday card that I made for my down line and crafty friend, Kylie. I wanted to use some of the new papers I'd just got, Sweet Shop, for a bright summer look. We all need something to brighten us up at the moment, is summer ever going to arrive?

I used Pool Party and Island Indigo, with the Sweet Shop Speciality Designer Papers to make the pin wheel. I'd made pin wheels at the Jubilee craft event I held at Dock Street, and thought a smaller version would look cute on a card. They're really easy to make. I used a mini brad to hold together the middle, and a cocktail stick for the stem. I tied a piece of the Bakers Twine into a bow around the stick for an extra bit of detail. The Pool Party card stock was embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder, and the sentiment stamp is a sneak peak from the new 2012-2013 Catalogue, called Itty Bitty Banners. I received this set for free, during Sale-a-bration, for recruiting a downline, my friend Kylie.  Stampin' Up! offer such great benefits to demonstrators, it's a great opportunity to get free products for doing something I love.

Aviary class card

Here's another card from the first Dock Street Market card class.  I'd seen one very similar on line, and loved the layout, using the Aviary stamp set.  I used Marina Mist and Very Vanilla card stock, with Island Indigo and Crumb Cake ink.  The Top Note die was used to cut out the Very Vanilla card stock.  The hello stamp is from Pennant Parade.

It was really good at the class to see how everyone made this card in different ways.  Some people were happy to copy it, exactly, detail for detail.  Others however, wanted to bespoke it, and were unhappy the birds were caged, and wanted to free them!  That's one thing I love about classes, some people want to be led, and others, want to break free!

Stamp Sets - Aviary, Pennant Parade
Embellishments - Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Mini Brads

Stamp a stack - Motorbike card

Morning!

What strange weather we're having at the moment, I was applying suncream on Sunday when I went on a 32 mile bike ride, and then last night as I left a team training event in Pudsey, it was snowing. Crazy! I remember my Mum telling me she's got photos of me as a child in the snow with my Easter eggs, maybe that will happen again this year!

Here's the third card from last weeks Stamp-a-stack class.  It's a great card for men, or ladies who like bikes, I don't want to be sexist!! The stamp is called Motorcycle, and is one of the A la Carte stamps, and is a bargain at only £7.95.  I love the sketched effect, and the clarity and quality of Stampin' Up!'s rubber stamps really shows with this image.  I learnt a new technique with this card, using a small circle punch in the top corners of the Whisper White card stock, to make a crescent for the mini brads.  I've only ever seen that done with a special punch, it's good to learn new ways of using products to their full capabilities.

Paper / Card Stock - Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Stamp Sets - Motorcycle, Party This Way, Dot Dot Dot
Embellishments - Satin Ribbon, Mini Brads
Tools - Stamp-a -a jig, Paper Piercing Tool, Extra Large Oval Punch, Modern Label
Inks / Markers - Basic Gray

Celebrate

Here's the second card from the Stamp-a-stack class. It's another bunting card, there's quite a few of them appearing on my blog! The colour combo is Tempting Turquoise and Real Red. The flags were punched from the Petite Pennants Builder punch, and the Celebrate stamp is one of the Sale-a-bration sets Outlined Occasions. The mini brads were used between the flags, and the Real Red Glimmer Brads were used on the sentiment, which was punched with the Large Oval and the Scallop Oval Punches.
