Birthday balloons

I've recently moved into a new office at work, and I've been chatting away to my colleagues about my hobbies and interests. At the recent regional training event in Leeds, one of the key messages that came across was to share Stampin' Up! as much as we could, with everyone. Sometimes us crafty folk are shy about talking about our passions, for fear of looking silly, but when it's something we love, why not share it with the world. Enthusiasm is catching, and every Stampin' Up! demonstrator was once hooked because of someone sharing what they love.

As a result of talking about my cards, a colleague asked me to make a card for her Mum for her 65th birthday. I love being asked to make custom cards, it's very flattering, and I love making things to make people smile. The only specification she asked for was something bright and colourful, and perhaps with balloons.

This is what I came up with.

I used the same layout as I'd used for one of my Jubilee class cards, with the crowns from Artistic Etchings. This time, I used the stamp set Party This Way, with the 2011-12 In Colours. I used Pool Party for the card blank, with panels of Whisper White stamped with the in colour inks using the balloon stamp. Inside the card I put numbers cut with the Big Shot and the Bigz Alphabet Simple Numbers dies. The sentiment is from Curly Cute.

She was really pleased with the card, as was her Mum. I do like a satisfied customer! In fact, her Mum liked it do much she wouldn't even let her write in it!

If you've got a special occasion that you need a nice card for, please get in touch. I'd love to help you out!

Jubilee Card Class - Celebrate

Here's another detailed post about one of the cards I made at the Dock Street Market class.  The colour combo is again Riding Hood Red and Not Quite Navy with Very Vanilla.  I used the Party This way stamp set for the balloons, with the Outlined Occasions Sale-a-bration set for the sentiment, which was coloured in with the blender pen.  Satin ribbon was used for the bow, I think I'm getting quite good at these now after attending the Beautiful Bows class a while ago.  I'll have to start making some of the other ones we learnt, if i can still remember how to do them.  i used the Linen Thread to make strings for the balloons, which was attached using the Sticky Dots.

Party This Way balloon card

Morning,

Todays post is just a quick one.  I'm trying to catch up with the backlog of posts from the last few weeks.  This is a card that I used for the card class I held in Bradford a few weeks ago,and was based on a layout of one of the cards I made at a Stamp-a-stack class.  The colour combo is Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade, and the balloons are from the Party This Way stamp set.  Linen Thread was used for the strings of the balloons.  A cute and easy design and layout, I'll be using this one again soon.

Stamp a stack - Motorbike card

Morning!

What strange weather we're having at the moment, I was applying suncream on Sunday when I went on a 32 mile bike ride, and then last night as I left a team training event in Pudsey, it was snowing. Crazy! I remember my Mum telling me she's got photos of me as a child in the snow with my Easter eggs, maybe that will happen again this year!

Here's the third card from last weeks Stamp-a-stack class.  It's a great card for men, or ladies who like bikes, I don't want to be sexist!! The stamp is called Motorcycle, and is one of the A la Carte stamps, and is a bargain at only £7.95.  I love the sketched effect, and the clarity and quality of Stampin' Up!'s rubber stamps really shows with this image.  I learnt a new technique with this card, using a small circle punch in the top corners of the Whisper White card stock, to make a crescent for the mini brads.  I've only ever seen that done with a special punch, it's good to learn new ways of using products to their full capabilities.

Paper / Card Stock - Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Stamp Sets - Motorcycle, Party This Way, Dot Dot Dot
Embellishments - Satin Ribbon, Mini Brads
Tools - Stamp-a -a jig, Paper Piercing Tool, Extra Large Oval Punch, Modern Label
Inks / Markers - Basic Gray

Good Chemistry

This is a card that my sister asked me to make for her friend, they are both chemistry PhD students, so she asked for something related to chemistry.  I had recently found a template on Pinterest that I thought would be perfect.  I used the Sale-a-bration papers Everyday Enchantment for the liquid in the flask, and used the sponge daubers with crumb cake ink around the edge of the flask and the card.  The Curly Cute Stamp Set was used for the Happy Birthday sentiment.  I hope they were both pleased with the card.

I added numbers to the neck of the flask, using Pool Party cardstock.

For the inside of the card, I decorated Very Vanilla cardstock with stamps from Party This Way in Crumb cake ink.

On the back of the card, I added a stamp from the Creatively Yours set.

Card / Paper - Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Whisper White textured card stock, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment DSP (Sale-a-bration)
Stamp Sets - Party This Way, Curly Cute
Embellishments -
Tools - Big Shot, number dies (non-SU)
Inks / Markers - Crumb Cake

Don't forget Sale-a-bration is only available until the end of March, so don't delay in placing your orders with me to get hold of your free stamp sets or papers for every £45 you spend.
