Pop Up Cupcakes

Here's another card CASEd from Julie Kettlewell, another which I loved immediately. It mainly uses the colour combo of Pool Party and Pink Pirouette, with lots of other colours from the Subtles and 2011-2013 In Colours. All together there are nine cupcakes on the card, which were just stamped in random colours from the selection I had on the table.

This is the first pop up card I have made, and I didn't quite get my measurements right! When I initially closed the card over, the bottom pop up panel stuck out the side! I must have cut it too far across from the middle, at least I know for next time how to improve it.

Although I enjoyed making the card, it did take quite some time, as I wasn't sure of all the measurements for the different bits and pieces. It won't take as long next time as I'll know what I'm doing.

Crafty Weekend

Evening all,

This is a quick post to say hello to you all, and wish you a nice weekend.  It's going to be another crafty one for me, with a Stamp-a-stack class hosted by Julie Kettlewell this evening in Pudsey, and then tomorrow I'm attending another of Julie's classes, Beautiful Bows.  I'll be paying lots of attention, so that I can learn how to make nice bows, so I can share the techniques with all of you!

I'll be back soon to share all my creations, can't wait!

Cupcakes card

Here's another card from my crafty weekend at Kylie's. It's been CASEd from Julie Kettlewell, I saw this card at the last Stamp-a-stack class I attended and thought it was amazing.

The colour combination is Pink Pirouette and Pool Party, with a touch of Crumb Cake and Rose Red. To make the awning, I used the Word Window Punch. The stamp set is the Create A Cupcake set, and the Cupcake builder punch was used to cut out the pieces. I used the Square Lattice embossing folder to add some detail to the bottom of the card, and added a Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon bow and a sentiment punched with the Large Oval Punch and the Scallop Oval Punch.

It was a really fun card to make, and I love the colours.  I said it before, don't wait to get this set if you're lusting after it, it's not around for much longer.

Cupcakes Set

These are a few cards that I made when I first got the Create a Cupcake stamp set and the Cupcake Builder Punch.  I used the colour combos of Soft Suede, Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla cards stock, based on the Beau Chateau papers.

The first card used the Square Lattice embossing folder to emboss Soft Suede card stock. The Scallop Edge Border Punch was used on the Marina Mist card stock to create a border on the Very Vanilla card stock strip.

The second card has Marina Mist card stock embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, with the Beau Chateau paper.

The third card has Soft Suede embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, and a piece of Pink Pirouette with the edge punched with the Scallop edge Border Punch to make it look like a cake stand.  The three cupcake tops have Dazzling Diamonds glitter to give them a bit of sparkle.

The fourth card has Pink Pirouette card stock embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, and I've used the Petite Pennants punch to cut out a cone stamped with the Pennant Parade stamp set.  The cupcake tops have been placed to look like ice creams. The Modern Label punch was used to cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment.

Don't forget, these products are only available until the end of April, as they are from the Spring Mini Catalogue.  These have been popular products, but there's no guarantee that they will be rolled over into the 2012-13 Catalogue, so don't wait too long if you've had your eye on it!

Love cards

These are cards that I started when I first signed up to be a demonstrator, and I found them recently half finished.  I think I had been waiting for the ribbon to be delivered and put them away to finish later.  I've finished them now, and here they are.

I used the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set, with Pretty in Pink and Marina Mist papers from the Subtles paper stack.  The sentiment is from the Pennant Parade stamp set, and has been cut out with the Modern Label Punch, with ink applied around the edges with the sponge daubers.

Bird House

Here's another one of the projects that I made during my crafty weekend with Kylie a few weeks ago. I made a bird house using the mini milk carton die. I used Very Vanilla card stock, stamped with Crumb Cake ink with the Woodgrain background stamp. I used Soft Suede for the roof, and the Scallop Edge Border Punch on the edges. The hole was cut with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch, and a piece of acetate was placed behind the hole. The carton was filled with mini eggs. The Bird punch was used to cut the bird, in Rose Red and Pink Pirouette card stock, with Certainly Celery for the branch.

Easter Baskets

Today I'm sharing with you another project that I was set whilst having my crafty weekend at Kylie's. I made three Easter baskets, using card stock in Pool Party, So Saffron and Pretty in Pink. They were stamped using the same colour inks, with the stamp set Charming. I used the Scallop Edge Border Punch to make the handles. To make the filling inside, we used a shredder which made the perfect sized strips which were scrunched up and put in the baskets. The flowers on the front were punched with the 5-Petal punch and the Boho Blossoms punch. To finish the flowers off, I placed a Rhinestone Pearl in the centre. I managed to resist eating the chocolate eggs as I was filling the baskets!

They look so effective don't you think? Perfect for an Easter Egg hunt!

Door Hanger

A couple of weeks ago, when I was having my crafty weekend with Kylie, I also went round to visit some friends who had recently had a baby girl. James was one of my first friends from university, and Jenny was Kylie's friend from school, so they have us to thank for meeting!

Inspired by my visit to meet their new addition to their family, I decided to make a door hanger as a gift to them. I'd bought a plain door hanger a week or so before in a craft shop in Leeds city centre. I used the Beau Chateau papers to cover the hanger, and used the sanding blocks to get a clean edge around the sides and the circle.

The door hanger covered with the Beau Chateau paper

Die cut letters from the Alphabet Simple Letters Bigz die

I used the Alphabet Simple Letters Bigz dies to cut the letters from Pink Pirouette card stock, and the Fun Flowers die to cut flowers from Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette and Beau Chateau papers. A few of the card stock flowers were embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder. The edges of the letters and flowers were inked with Soft Suede. I then used the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die to cut the butterflies. It's a clever product, as it cuts and embosses at the same time. Finally, Rhinestone Jewels were placed on the butterflies for added bling.

I hope they like it, and that baby Hana does when she's a little older.

Good Chemistry

This is a card that my sister asked me to make for her friend, they are both chemistry PhD students, so she asked for something related to chemistry.  I had recently found a template on Pinterest that I thought would be perfect.  I used the Sale-a-bration papers Everyday Enchantment for the liquid in the flask, and used the sponge daubers with crumb cake ink around the edge of the flask and the card.  The Curly Cute Stamp Set was used for the Happy Birthday sentiment.  I hope they were both pleased with the card.

I added numbers to the neck of the flask, using Pool Party cardstock.

For the inside of the card, I decorated Very Vanilla cardstock with stamps from Party This Way in Crumb cake ink.

On the back of the card, I added a stamp from the Creatively Yours set.

Fancy Folds Card 3 - Easel Owl Card

Here's the third in my fancy folds cards - an easel card.  It uses the colour combo of Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  I used the Woodgrain background stamp with Crumb Cake Ink to create a wood effect on the Very Vanilla cardstock on the front of the card, as well as on the Crumb Cake base. An owl was punched using the Owl Builder punch, and I added some Rhinestone Pearls to look like a necklace.  I used the Word Window Punch and the Modern Label Punch with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, and added a couple of the Stampin' Dimensionals to make a raised section where the top of the card rests to make it stand up.

This picture shows the card laid flat for placing in an envelope.

Fancy Folds Card 2

This is another one of my fancy folds cards, also called a tri-fold card. It was made with Soft Suede card stock, and the Beau Chateau Papers. The Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder was used to Emboss the Very Vanilla and Pink Pirouette panels. The Four Frames stamp set was used with the Modern Label Punch, with the sentiment from For My Family.   Unfortunately, now I've uploaded these photos onto here, the colours look a bit washed out, it must have been bad light when I took them.  The card is much brighter!

Fancy folds card 1

This is the first card I'm sharing with you that's from my recent experiments with trying out new card shapes.  This is a tri-fold card, in Marina Mist with papers from Beau Chateau DSP.  I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die to cut the butterflies, which were decorated with Rhinestone Jewels. I really enjoyed making this, and I'll be using this style for cards that need to be a bit fancier for special occasions.

Crochet Granny Square

This is a late post from me, but I've made something tonight I was pleased about, so thought I'd share it. I managed to drag myself out of the house this evening, I've become a bit of a hermit recently, and have been enjoying the crafting and watching 24, and of course, playing with the new kitty! But seeing as Spring is here, I thought it was time to stop hibernating and get out again to socialise. So I went to Yarnia, a knitting/crochet craft group who meet at Dock Street Market, Leeds. For research purposes, I thought I should sample their tea pot cocktails, seeing as this is the venue for my craft classes that are starting soon! I can confirm the one I had was delicious, and seemed to last forever. At half price too, what a bargain! It was nice to see lots of familiar faces, as there was the Maths Jam group (a maths puzzle solving group) and Leeds Letters (a letter writing club) there too. I love that such diverse groups exist, and that places like Dock Street really encourage people to have such gatherings at their venue. I'm very excited now about my classes! Can't wait. There's still spaces available, so just contact me if you fancy coming along.
